DNA metabarcoding of prey reveals spatial, temporal and diet partitioning of an island ecosystem by four invasive wasps

چکیده
Invasive alien species can cause detrimental changes in native ecosystems, but our understanding of the interactions between multiple exotic is limited. To evaluate joint effect sympatric invaders on an ecosystem, we must first understand how they interact with each other. Here, quantified spatial distribution, dietary composition and overlap four invasive generalist vespid (two Vespula two Polistes) that co-occur Ahuahu off north-east coast New Zealand. We used DNA metabarcoding larval faecal material to identify prey species, mapped locations nests. observed clear partitioning, different wasp aggregating habitats. Diet differed both among (diet partitioning) seasons (temporal partitioning). There was stronger competition (highest diet overlap) germanica vulgaris than other partitioning resources minimised species. Additionally, obtained high-resolution inventories help assess combined ecological impact invasion by wasps. These consumed mostly endemic invertebrates from trophic levels, particularly herbivores (Lepidoptera). provide direct evidence combination exploited a wide range invertebrates. Synthesis applications. Our study demonstrates resource wasps, facilitating coexistence these invaders. conclude probably amplifies their impact. Quantifying exploit partition provides insights into communities assemble helps cumulative effects recipient community.

DNA metabarcoding reveals diverse diet of the three-spined stickleback in a coastal ecosystem
The three-spined stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus L., hereafter 'stickleback') is a common mesopredatory fish in marine, coastal and freshwater areas. In large parts of the Baltic Sea, stickleback densities have increased >10-fold during the last decades, and it is now one of the dominating fish species both in terms of biomass and effects on lower trophic levels. Still, relatively little is...

this research aims at answering the questions about translation problems and strategies applied by translators when translating cultural concepts. in order to address this issue, qualitative and quantitative study were conducted on two groups of subjects at imam reza international university of mashhad. these two groups were assigned as beginner and advanced translation students (10 students). ...
DNA metabarcoding illuminates dietary niche partitioning by African large herbivores.
Niche partitioning facilitates species coexistence in a world of limited resources, thereby enriching biodiversity. For decades, biologists have sought to understand how diverse assemblages of large mammalian herbivores (LMH) partition food resources. Several complementary mechanisms have been identified, including differential consumption of grasses versus nongrasses and spatiotemporal stratif...
